[nails] Swatch - La Femme Venus

Hey everyone! Hope you're having a good week, happy Wednesday! Today I have a really simple swatch post for you - I've been busy with uni reading and essays so I've not had time to create any proper nail art.

There is only one shop local to me that sells polishes at discount - everywhere else is chain stores like Boots and Superdrug - so I always make sure to stop by and see what they have. They usually stock cheaper brands like W7, Sinful Colors, Laval, and La Femme. I saw this beauty in the La Femme rack and nearly passed straight by it, thinking it was a regular creme or jelly, but then I spotted a hint of glitter...

This is 'Venus' by La Femme, a sheer blue jelly base with blue hex glitters in two different sizes. I've never seen something this interesting from La Femme before - I have a fair few of their polishes and they mostly stick to plain colours or uniform glitters. The coverage isn't brilliant - this is four coats and you can still see some nail line - but drying time is fast and I wanted to show you guys the jelly base without layering it over another colour. The base is an almost dusty blue in person, and the glitter gives it enough sparkle that the overall effect is very blue - which I love! Here's a bottle shot to show you why I didn't see the glitter from a distance:

I know quite a few of you in the UK have come across La Femme before, and I'd definitely recommend checking them out now they seem to be starting to branch out into more interesting polishes. Also, since they're often fairly unimaginative with naming their polishes (with such delights as 'Pink' and 'Red' for example), it's nice to have something with a bit more character like 'Venus'!

I was going to take a nice picture of the Nail Platypus with the polish for you guys, but I couldn't find him anywhere... then I realised he'd sneaked into my knitting stash to get all cosy and make a nest in my yarn! Honestly, the second you turn your back on a platypus, you're heading for chaos!

Since it's Wednesday, it's time for another British Nail Bloggers Link-Up, so please do go and visit some of these lovely ladies' blogs if you've got the time - it'll be worth your while, I can assure you.

Lots of glittery hugs from me,

Katy xo
